• Question: how does reproduction work with animals ????

      Hi Coraline; good question. Animals reproduce asexually or sexually (like us). Sexual reproduction is the most successful way because it shuffles genes from both parents which provides an excellent defence against infectious diseases. It generate genetic heterogeneity which evolution feeds on when faced with selection pressures.

      Phil’s exactly right there, in most animals it’s pretty similar to us. Things get a little bit different when you’re talking about fungi or plants.

      For a fun fact, bed bugs don’t have a vagina so the male actually drills into them to fertilise their eggs!
