      Definitely, I mentioned this on the chat today but essentially there is so much evidence to disprove any other theory that it’s fantastically solid and believable.

      The main thing about evolution is that there isn’t a one way direction to evolution. My favourite example is that the protein that helps plants make food from the light and carbon dioxide is damaged by oxygen. Now oxygen is made by this process (photosynthesis)! There’s a whole load of complexity to make this work as a bodge job because evolution is done by little changes on what’s already there. In theory we could design something that would be much more efficient, but evolution doesn’t work like that.

      It’s not something I believe in. It’s a theory grounded in a huge body of evidence. There is nothing to believe in – it’s just a fact. Belief to me is more like an emotional attachment – like I used to have to Christianity- something I lost 25 years ago.
