hmmm if you mean mankind as in humans….. then we will always adapt to changes in technology. For instance, it wasn’t that long ago I was at school like you and we didn’t have the internet, emails, mobile telephone. We also didn’t have many of the techniques that I use on a daily basis in my research but we quickly adapt to using them and wonder how we ever coped without our iPhones or iPads!

Evolving to changes in climate might be slightly different- these changes typically take many many years to happen. I remember my geography teacher telling me that one day, countries in the Mediterranean will become too hot in the summer that people living there will have to migrate to the UK where it will be slightly cooler…. I am not sure whether she was lying to me! But climate does change very quickly, just think of the North Pole… all those poor polar bears are struggling to find a place to live and breed because the ice caps are melting too fast. I also remember hearing a fact that over the last 100 years, the temperature of the Earth has increased by half a degree Celsius which doesn’t sound like much, but it cause an increase in the sea levels by 15-20cm!
