• Question: If growing human lung cells could help treat asthma , then do you think that growing other cells could help other diseases to ? If so , what sort of diseases ? Cirrhosis?

      Definitely, so I should say that I’m using the lungs cells to study what happens in asthma, and hopefully that should help treat asthma in the future. But if a disease acts on a specific cell then they can be used to research into what goes on and look for new treatments.

      An example of this would be looking at liver cells and how malaria reproduces in them, there are a couple of treatments being developed which are trying to specifically stop malaria at this stage!
