• Question: what do you eat before u run a race

      Generally not too much. I did the London Marathon last year and had a big meal of pasta the night before to load up on fuel and then just a banana that morning. I think the idea is that you want to spend all your energy running and not digesting food or carrying around excess food!

      If you think of it evolutionarily, we are specialists at long distance chasing of prey, which we’d probably do whilst being hungry so it makes sense that way too

      I have only ran one race and it was 5km which isn’t very far so it didn’t really matter what I ate before it! But after the race I ate a banana and an energy drink to catch up the calories I had burnt!
